What made you try Metabolic Balance®?

I was in year 11 at high school and sport lessons were always very frustrating for me. Volleyball, soccer, every sport was impossible and poor grades were inevitable. After a short time, I was always out of breath, had run out of energy and had no desire to carry on. Physical education was just awful! I recall it as if it was yesterday. My former sports teacher took me to one side and spoke to me. He was convinced that I was able to do sport, keep up with the others and even get good grades. But I was currently just too heavy: 'I couldn't play sport either if I weighed an extra 20 kg' he said. My teacher then asked me if I had ever heard of Metabolic Balance®. He and his whole family were doing the programme and were really happy with it. He told me to look for a coach in the area. Up until then, I hadn't heard about Metabolic Balance®. His talk really inspired me, so I asked my parents whether they had heard of it. By coincidence, my mother's naturopath was also a Metabolic Balance® coach, and so I had my first consultation with him and a blood test.

How did you feel before Metabolic Balance®?

I had been overweight since primary school. To be honest, I was really big and the older I got, the heavier I became. Eventually I weighed around 100 kg. After my exams, I started training as chef. This meant lots or irregular and unhealthy meals as well as quite a bit of stress and frustration. After one year, I quit the training course weighing around 113 kg.

Why Metabolic Balance®?

My mum had known my coach for a long time and I was sure that my sports teacher and my coach weren't talking rubbish. I was so motivated by the two of them, as well as friends and family, that I didn't have to think about it for very long. I just jumped at the programme.

How did you find the programme?

In November 2010, just two weeks after my first consultation I was holding my nutrition plan and ready to start. The first few days were a huge change for me. Drinking so much water, eating only 3 meals a day, weighing everything to the gram, the new rules and the strict timings .....but, it didn't take long to get the hang of it. The weight just melted away and the less I weighed, the more motivation I had to keep going. Even Christmas felt like child's play, despite the restrictions. By mid February I had lost more than 15 kg and had even started to like doing sport again - even in my free time. Half a year later, and still in phase 2 of Metabolic Balance®, I had lost about 25 kg and had reached my first goal.

What is the biggest change since starting Metabolic Balance®?

There is not one 'big' change, as so much has happened. Thanks to Metabolic Balance®, I am wearing clothing size M instead of XXL. I am able to jog longer distances and my confidence has increased by 100%. I go to the gym every day for weights and endurance sports. A milestone for me was running in the B2RUN event in Munich together with the Metabolic Balance® team. There was a competition to take part in the event on the company website, so I decided to enter, even without much hope of winning. Surprisingly, I won the prize! This was an amazing and uplifting experience.
